JAIL DIVISION

Under the leadership of Sheriff Joey Terrell, the Detention Center is managed by a capable staff of law enforcement professionals. The Jail Division supervises the inmate population within the Habersham County Detention Center. This supervision includes, but is not limited to, ensuring the inmates are housed in a safe environment, providing quality meals, and providing inmates with family and attorney contact through visitation. The division is also responsible for inmate transportation to and from the facility, inmate classification, booking/intake and front desk responsibilities. The Habersham County Detention Center houses inmates who are awaiting trial or have been sentenced to one year or less.

Inmates are housed at the Detention Center located at 1000 Detention Drive, Clarkesville, GA 30523. The Detention Center opened in the mid 1990's with the capacity to house 130 inmates. The current daily number of Habersham County inmates ranges between 150 and 230, resulting in the Sheriff's Office housing up to 60 or more inmates in out-of-county facilities.
