Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A citizen of the United States

  • Provide a copy of your Social Security Card, Birth Certificate and High School Diploma or its recognized equivalent

  • 18 Years of Age or Older

  • Valid Georgia Driver's License

  • Not have been convicted of any felony or serious misdemeanors.

  • Not have been convicted of a domestic violence offense

  • Sign a written release to allow a search through databases to disclose any criminal record

  • Pass a drug screen by a licensed physician, to be free from any  physical, emotional, or mental conditions which might adversely affect his / her exercising the powers or duties of a Deputy Sheriff / Jailer.

SALARY

Starting Salary for a Detention Officer is $18.30/Hour. Salary increases after completion of the Basic Jailer Course.

Starting Salary for a Deputy Sheriff is $19.51/Hour. Salary increases after successful completion of the Field Training Program and One Year of Service. 

​

Employees also receive Paid Vacation and Holiday, and Sick Leave.
